The bulk of his career was spent with Scottish Amicable Investment Managers in a 13-year stint prior to its acquisition by Britannic in 1997. He spent less than a year at the new entity before moving to Scottish Friendly. As investment director of the group, his responsibilities included the management of the Scottish Friendly Managed Growth and Scottish Friendly UK Growth unit trusts. Objective

The investment objective of the Fund is to provide long-term capital growth. The Investment Adviser believes the best way to achieve this growth is by investing in equities of companies in a special situation. These companies are in a special situation because they have certain special characteristics that are difficult to replicate, distinct from their competitors and that enables them to sustain a higher level of profitability for longer than expected which often surprises the market and typically leads to strong share price appreciation.
