John Pollen joined Arbiter Fund Managers in November 2012 from Pioneer Investments. Prior to joining Pioneer in 1999 he worked at Standard Bank in Johannesburg, South Africa as a domestic portfolio manager and as head of international investment strategy for institutional and active private customers. From 1982 to 1995 he worked for Baring Asset Management in Tokyo where he led the European stock portfolios. John attended Kings College in London, and currently manages the Arbiter Global Emerging Markets Fund.


The Sub-Funds objective is to generate positive absolute returns and long term capital growth through investments in listed equities, equity-linked securities, fixed income securities, including but not limited to common stocks, depository receipts, warrants and other participation rights, index and participation notes, equity linked notes, bonds and convertible securities. The Sub-Fund will invest primarily in companies listed and operating in emerging markets but the Sub-Fund may also invest in companies listed on developed markets which have significant exposure to emerging countries.
